What do you guys think about the 17-55mm F/2.8 IS USM? I would check the focal length with your 18-55 lens first, I would not generally choose a wider than 28mm for portraits due to distortion. Ok if you need feet in as well then you will need something around about 24-28mm.
The 50mm f1.4 was going to be a good option for me, but i would be taking full body with toes and everything in short space.hmm maybe i just need to knock down i few walls to get more space? hah If you mean waist up then I would have thought 50mm would be OK, look at the Sigma 50 f1.4 lens. Please let me know, and a budget of around $800. I really look for sharpness and bokeh (to blur out the background).
